Yea, some freedom fighters. How much freedom have Taliban won for women? Mutilation, slavery, public burning -- PC lefties like Eric call it religious diversity.

At one point, you could argue, the Taliban were actually freedom fighters. The country had been wracked by wars for years on end (thanks in no small part to other countries, including "the West") and the Taliban emerged as the best bet for peace. Once in control, however, the true nature of these former freedom fighters surfaced.

fyo, interestingly enough, much of the Taliban's more modern equipment was supplied by the US. One example is the zinger missile which is very effective at taking out short distance targets including low flying aircraft. There is more American-issue equipment although much of it has gotten old and nonfunctional.

I guess we need to be more careful to whom we provide help in the future.
