Would you rather have the U.S. go after terrorist cells alone? During the Carter years the CIA severed our ties with hundreds of spies throughout the Middle East -- IMO, that may be viewed as a VERY COSTLY MOVE that historians may consider for years to come. We need local intelligence and are starting the long process of rebuilding. Many folks in Afghanistan want to free their country of the Taliban regime and the terrorist producing camps - they need effective training, support and assistance to make this happen. We need to partner with locals on the ground (and I heard Sec. of Defense Rumsfeld just mention we are doing that) in order to really successfully go after Bin Laden and his terrorist networks. I also believe the U.S. and our coalition will help establish a more stable and democratic Afghanistan...we are also pledging to provide OVER $300 Million in humanitarian support to the Afghan people. It should soon become clear that we are on the side of the innocent Afghan people.

Just my views.

Regards,

Scott
