yes, and that's precisely why we shouldn't enter into global trade agreements with these rising powers and put ourselves in a position where they can dictate the terms of trade.

how does not entering into trade agreements with the EU "take away their freedom"? it merely preserves our freedom to act unilaterally. if you want to be technical about it, like you pointed out with ge/hon, we are not "forcing" them to do anything. they simply need to deal with the united states on our terms, not theirs.
