And herein lies the military complementarity that is most expedient to the U.S.--the sturdy British attitude to risk-taking on the battlefield. What the British do not have in terms of firepower, at least when compared with the U.S., they more than compensate for in their lack of aversion to casualties. If the fighting becomes ugly in Afghanistan, as it almost always does, this is an attitude for which the U.S. will be particularly grateful.

nice find, Glenn. Over the years I've read tales of the British Commands in WWII. What an awe inspiring group of men -- very tough, very brave, very fearsome.
