<What is it that causes you to anticipate the waning of the west with such glee>

Here is my point!

I have a motto: "I'm nostalgic for the future." I believe you are nostalgic for the past.

I believe we all get what we all expect in the long run. You will get what you you seem to expect: the waning of America. I will get what I expect: the expansion of America.

You seem to want to freeze the definition of America to a period that was kind of true for some people, for some period of time in the past. Get over it. If it ever was true (that's debatable), it is in the past and is never coming back. And if you were of Mexican, Chinese or Black ancestry in this country, old Norman Rockwell doesn't 'speak' to you.

I want to create a living and dynamic definition of America. Mine seems optimistic, rooted in reality and isn't incompatible with the way things ARE. Yours seems maudlin and gloomy about us and our future, and only by resorting to some really extreme measures is it compatible with the way things are.

That America never existed.
I guess you could say the exclusive dream of that America got some people through something. And I am glad they are through whatever it was they needed to get through, so we can recognize our thanksgiving is multi-ethnic now, and blacks can be more than cute shoe shine boys, and mammy's.
