I do not think we are in any grave danger of that sort of inwardness, frankly. Not only are we too ethnically diverse already, but even the most anti- immigration arguments I have heard (discounting the Montana- types) has suggested no more than a moratorium to allow absorption of what we have, before another round of immigration. Besides, we are a trading nation, with far flung interests, and likely to expand internationally. Finally, all of those civil liberties equal a dynamic culture, which is constantly introducing elements that are startling, heterogeneous, and stimulating.......
