Scroll down the page until you find the 1986 - 1996 graphs of the NASDAQ and the Idiot Wave. They show what happened with the 1990 and 1987 periods. Also shown is the slowdown in '94-'95. Note that the scale of the NASDAQ is linear, not semi-log. Those moves in '87 were huge even though the graph makes them look sort of average with the rest of the scale.
