The last time I checked, about 8 mo ago, cents/share wasn't really possible on Realtick because Townsend was charging a flat fee per ticket to the brokerage; it was about $3 per ticket regardless of share size.

If that's the only reason, they could always charge .01 per share plus $3.

I wonder how many clients Real Tick brokers have lost to IB so far. I also wonder why it takes an extra second to execute using IB. I noticed that IB is one of the top 10 program traders on NYSE (or is it NASDAQ?), and wonder if that is somehow related. How come Real Tick brokers don't seem to be willing to be competitive price wise with IB.
