Since there is no basis for supposing representation according to base population in any given occupation, looking at statistical distribution is worthless. One can make no meaningful inference.......

If the statistics show that a racial or ethnic group, or people of one sex or the other, or people with a certain religious background are over or under represented in a particular area that does not indicate that they are discriminated against or that they are especially favored. It could just be that people in that group prefer different situations or have different talents.

Also the generation and publishing of the statistics can raise consciousness of racial and other differences, and may act against people seeing people as people rather then as whites, blacks, asians, Jews, Catholics, Muslims, ect.
