There are no doubt applications out there where this occurs. Feed the P4 pipeline a series of transcendental functions, or some code with very unpredictable branches, and you'll see it slow to a crawl. On the other hand, these were sacrifices made so that the P4 would run faster most of the time.

Albert, I'm well aware of what clock speeds and instructions per clock cycle mean. Did you think we'd let AMD get away with using a PR type rating on their chips without coming back at their supporters with a large ration of shet?
