I love it how you and other members of the Conservative Coffee Club sing "Yankee Doodle" and wrap the American flag around every issue that's near and dear to you, including obscene CEO salaries and corporate welfare. You ought to write a book: "All I need to know I learned from my pals on SI."

What I suggest you do is take a close look at the obscenity of corporate salaries/departure packages of the past five years or so. One example would be John McCoy, CEO of Bank One until he messed up the company so bad he was forced to quit in early '00. What was his "punishment" for sending the stock price from $60 to $22? Why he gets $3 million a year for life.

But let's not pick on McCoy. There are hundreds of similar stories out there.

And, yes, you're right. Salaries paid to sports gladiators also are obscene. Bottom line: Rich are getting richer and the working man/woman is getting poorer.
