It's much better to gain in market share even if you lose money for a few quarters. Otherwise, Intel would succeed in convincing the partners that AMD relies upon from developing new products for AMD chips. Sometimes you just have to take the punches that are thrown at you knowing that if you hang on your opponent will start to tire and in the long run you'll be in a stronger position.

Cory, the funnier thing is that with getting rid of the Pentium III, Intel now has another opportunity to hit 20M P4 units this year. I believe they've already sold 4M up until the end of Q2. I predict 7M was sold this past quarter. If that is close, and they sell 9M or more in Q4, then Niceguy will have no more ammunition. But that doesn't mean he'll admit to the facts.

Cory:

"with staggering losses for the foreseeable future."

If staggering, how will you describe INTC's losses which may just dwarf AMD's come q4!
