I think they are teaching the wrong message here. If a child does not want to say the Pledge of Allegiance then they should fully support that child's right not to do so - for whatever reason. Teach people to tolerate and respect dissent.

The kids in Madison should just sing the Official State Song of the State of Wisconsin (also the University of Wisconsin football song)

On Wisconsin

"On Wisconsin! On Wisconsin! Grand old Badger State "
"We, thy loyal sons and daughters, Hail thee, good and great"
"On Wisconsin! On Wisconsin! Champion of the right,"
"'Forward' our motto - God will give thee might!"

Oops - just saw this is off topic - sorry.

"If we sit down or stand up during the pledge or national anthem, that's making a statement," Sui said. "Because we're a multicultural school, it makes the kids who do or don't do it feel awkward

Things that make you go Hmmmmm.....

Obviously this school is not the best use of public tax dollars, if multi-culturalism has come to dominate love of the country that promotes that diversity.

Since when is patriotism and multi-culturalism mutually exclusive??
