It remains to be seen what Clinton would have done but likely he would have built a worldwide coalition and lead some effective means to root out Bin Laden and free the world from his terrorists madness. He would have been attacked unmercifully by now if after 32 days he still had not gotten Bin Laden and the right wing would be clamoring that attacking Afghanistan has been a fruitless exercise. He might have gotten Bin Laden and his boys already.

But more importantly he may have achieved a real peace accord in the middle east and the attacks may have been cancelled by the terrorists. Or he may have used our intelligence wisely and intercepted and foiled the attackers.

The worst result of his leadership would be the same result as we have now. We would have been attacked and spurious threats and incidents would continue and Bin Laden and co would still be out there. He wouldn't have been able to spend more money with less results than we have so far.

Certainly, he would never have gotten on TV and told Putin to eat dirt as far as the missile shield was concerned and then misquote in reaganesque terms that a "rocket" is real threat from a rogue nation. You see the only thing the shield defends against is a ballistic warhead and most "rockets" are non ballistic and indefensible by the shield.

So Mr. Bush has tried hard so far and I commend his efforts, but it is almost certain that at this stage Mr. Clinton would have achieved greater or equal results against the terrorists.

On the home front Clinton would surely not been asleep at the economic switch for seven months before being awakened by a terrorist attack. And it is likely that he would not resort to massive deficit spending and corporate welfare as the means to bail out the economy.

So after eight straight years of great results and seven months of disastrous results, I would think Mr. Clinton would have a great chance of exceeding Mr. Bush's results so far.

God Bless America and Mr. Bush and Mr. Clinton
