But if the writer is not making the inference, the reader is mistaken in seeing it, and simply drawing a false conclusion. If I write, or speak, with an inference in mind, it is intentional, and a rational conclusion of my words. You are adding up to something that is, imo, not there.

I don't think you really interested in what I see in the article, or why orintation would be mentioned. This is 2001. I had this talk with 100's, literally, of people over the years. It is olllllld. Shelve with the days of Woodstock and let the interested read a little history if they really want to understand. If I am wrong that you are not interested, and merely trying to deflect attention from more important matters to things that amuse you, I might take the time to answer. I live in the deeeeep South. I have spent more than enough time answering questions like, "Wow, what's it like to be gay?". The cost of an answer to that question has risen from a six-pack to a case of beer.

And speaking of coyotes and dogs (that was you, wasn't it?) coyotes WILL call out, and kill, big dogs. So don't be complacent about yours if there are coyotes roaming.

Inferences are made by the reader. Implications are made by the writer. Please present any implication on the part of the writer of that piece that gays are necessarily good, as opposed to that they, like other people, come in good and bad. The writer believes also that it is a good thing for bigots who think To Be Gay Is To Be Bad to have their delusions destroyed by the gayness of heroes becoming known to their fellow Americans. Do you disagree?

We have heard all about the personal and professional lives (and families) of many people killed on September 11, particularly those thought or known to have performed heroic acts on that day. While the wives and husbands of many have been interviewed by the national press, it is interesting that Mr. Bingham's partner has been almost totally ignored. Do you think that oversight is intentional or carries a hidden message?

Providing information like this about the lives led by the beloved Fire Department chaplain and the rugby player is no different than going into detail about the private lives of the corporate executives, flight attendants, and others involved in those tragic events.

I did not read you complaining when the press provided numerous details of the private lives of those who were not gay.
