When sexual orientation becomes the defining characteristic of a human being something is very wrong.

If I read, "Sally Brown, a heterosexual flight attendant on American Airlines Flight # ............"

Yes, I would be outraged. Let's play the game of "Who Am I?" If the first thing a person says is, "I am a homosexual," yes, I think there is something definitely wrong with them. O.K., so you enjoy having sex with other men instead of women. I couldn't care less. But that's the way you want to be remembered for posterity? That's the most important thing you can say about yourself?

I guess I am totally out of it, because sexual orientation would not make the top ten on my own list. In fact, it wouldn't be on the list at all.

Moreover, who gives anyone the right to dig into the sexual orientation of deceased people?

"...that Mr. Bingham's partner has been almost totally ignored. I am with JC on this.

I haven't been following the human interest stories closely, but I do remember a touching report right after the bombing.

There was a handicapped man who refused to be carried down the stairs. The speculation was that he either didn't want to block the path for others or that he knew he was just too big and heavy for it to work. Several fire fighters were sent up after him.

A great deal of attention was given to the fact that his devoted friend of many years refused to leave his side and parished in the stairwell with him. I doubt that they were gay but, who cares. Maybe if you have a gay awareness issue you do. I confess, that I don't understand that.

Is it news worthy or of human interest thay Mr. Binghampton's Partner is suffering a loss? Maybe? Is it interesting or news worthy that they were sexual partners? Not to me.
