I don't think I've ever met anyone who said, FIRST thing, I'm a homosexual.
Have you?
I've met some people - in law school- who were very activist and who managed to work it in really quickly, but that was more because they were activists, and they wanted everyone to know it. If they'd been working for Greenpeace they would have worked that in in the first 5 minutes of conversation.

I'm trying to imagine that in a non-activist context. Maybe at a singles bar. I have never been to one of those. So maybe I don't know what's said there.

Poet, that is a beautifully written reply.

I complement you highly on being able to compose something so eloquent in such a short period of time. It reaffirms my high estimation of your intelligence and talent.

Such a reply deserves a very thoughtful response. The sun has come out here, and after three days of being house-bound we are soon to take S & M for a beach romp, along with doing other errands. Besides, I don't think or write ( or type) nearly as rapidly as you are able to do.

So, move on to other things, and I will reply in time.

I don't mean to imply, BTW, that I am likely to change my views (groan for you). We have to realize that what started this today is the accusation that I am a bigot. That has nothing to do with you and I don't wish to involve you in it (and for that matter, I don't expect to involve myself in it any further). Anyway, you have moved the discussion to a different level, involving sensitivity as the issue. That is waaaay different from bigotry. It remains for me to elucidate my position as to how much certain simple truths (IMO) can or should be denied, or avoided, in the interest of sensitivity. It is possible that we will end at an impasse of Mars vs. Venus, but the journey there will have certain rewards.
