I think the unknown is the biggest factor here. Who knows how many Anthrax envelopes have been sent out...and when...

I'm certainly not paniced...just realistic.

These attacks are very well calculated, because they go to the heart of the US economy. They attack our productivity. The efficiency of air travel and freight has been disrupted first. Now the US postal system is grinding to a halt. What is next? Anthrax contamination of cardboard packaged consumer items such as TVs and computers could be next. Shopping malls ventilation systems may also be easily infected.

Our society is very vulnerable to major losses of productivity, triggered by fear of terrorism and the associated "preventive" measures.
