It's on the news constantly and its all anyone is thinking about.

and therein lies the problem methinks. Our reaction is telling them that it is working. We are screwing our selves with the media whipping everyone into a froth over this. I think it is time to think and talk tough about it.

You spoke of being mentally unprepared...well we need to get mentally prepared to fight the psy-ops war I guess.

Ken, please. I love your thread but I find those comments very insensitive.

Jill,

OK. I understand. I want this thread to generally be an environment in which we can step back and take a dispassionate view of events. I think we get into trouble when we get too emotional while trying to do this task. So to the extent that I brought too much of my own frustrations and anger to the table in that post, I disregarded my own goals.

I find it difficult to discern the line between analysis and emotional response sometimes, but I'm trying to keep them separate. I do think, however, that your posts on this subject have been very emotional, and in retrospect, perhaps off topic, but in these difficult times it did not seem productive for me to make a big deal out of it.

Perhaps you too could turn down the emotional level -- the context you set up makes me look like a hard case by comparison<g>.

Cheers,

Hi Jill; Re: "of the employees of the t.v. stations, or the parents of the child who just got anthrax, or the family of the two members of American Media, one who died and one who was hospitalized, are laughing or have the attitude that a card with "bang" would be scarier."

I'm sure he didn't intend on humor when he made the "bang" comment. I saw it as an attempt to put into perspective the Anthrax situation.

Anthrax is an inconvenience, but it is not a threat. So far, one death, a few injuries, some inconveniences. By the time this is over it is likely that we will be inured to deaths in that sort of quantity.
