If one has to answer to these questions as "practical considerations" sometimes and then as "moral considerations" at others, I would rather adopt a morality that allowed me to use the same principles all the time. Tim, the principles you are espousing are the principles which justify both abortion AND the death penalty. I won't have to face God (IMO, leave me that) to explain myself, but I will have to face humanity and future generations' judgements. This morality stuff is a very subjective business.
