I saw the former CIA station chief for Afghanistan on FrontLine last night. He said bin Laden was rarely mentioned during the Afghan-Soviet conflict -- OBL had his operation and the CIA had theirs. There were many dozens of autonomous groups in the country. He denied any specific CIA support or operations with OBL.

As the claims I hear about the linkage between the CIA and OBL seem to grow with each passing day, I begin to wonder if what you are saying has not taken on all the trappings of a "urban" myth.
