According to Islam, people have to donate 2.5-3% of their net worth every year to 'deserving and needy'. Thats a lot of money if you add up all the have's in the country and then divide it by the low population of Saudi nationals. This zakat finds its way to the average national. Plus there are other national level funds...like this one which has always amused me. Whatever is left from the zakat, is distributed between Palestinian and other mujahideens over the world.
