through terrorism they have some power over us that we do not have and won't have over them.

I don't agree.. We have all the power we CHOSE to exert.

The reason they were able to perpetrate this act was because we were sleepily content with our lives and unwilling to deal harshly and forcefully with these little "pinpricks" like the USS Cole, or the Embassy bombings, and round up these folks even earlier.

And there's no reason one more muslim needs to be permitted to enter, or live in this country, should we become so harsh as to enforce such a policy.

Heck.. we have plenty of Central Americans who would like to take their place, and Spanish is a hell of lot easier to deal with and learn than Arabic and Farsi.

But with regard to the damage we could do to them, it would rather easy to render the entire region incapable of sustaining an economy. Turn out the lights... blow up the sewage systems, destroy their factories... and they would't be able to do a friggin' thing about it.

We have plenty of options... We just have to decide whether we're willing to excercise a few of them and face the potential for escalation.

Personally, I think they would blink first if we showed them we weren't kidding "this time".
