I disagree -- looking at the absolute value of one number (i.e. VIX) and drawing any hard and fast conclusion about whether one should be short or long is plain silly.

And I didn't read that in the article -- what I read was a long-winded piece about traders not cutting losses and swinging from one extreme position to the other. I agree with Cramer that, that is dumb, but also something he has done himself.

on that i have to disagree. VIX is best used in the context of its' current trading range and not its' absolute number. using your argument, we stand a high probability of having hit a bottom in September which is as unlikely as AG posting on this thread.
