There is a vast difference between advocating for change -- which I have done more than my fair share of in my day -- and blaming the United States for causing the WTC incident.

Wow, I sure woke up to a bunch of messages this morning. You guys were busy. I've read through them and I must say that I didn't see anything that looked like blaming the US for WTC. I didn't read every message because I have one person on ignore, but it isn't someone you were accusing of treason. I think that's way over the top. What I saw was a difference of opinion in the strategy for pursuing this campaign, not irresponsible speech and hardly treason.

But that doesn't make me blind to the fact that the exercise of free speech can be irresponsible.

You know that I agree with you on this. The protocols surrounding free speech change in time of war. The Administration, the news media, and we opinionated citizens are all dealing with that. I made the point to Cosmic back on day two or three that discussions of "root causes" wouldn't be appreciated at that time. But we must not forget what is is about our country that makes us the good guys--it's freedom and democracy.

What other kind of free speech has any significance?

I saw in a later post that you were speaking of negative speech whereas Cosmic was speaking of speech that challenges, particularly the government. Big difference. We can all be good Americans and support our country in its campaign without loosing our voices to disagree with strategy. If we have to give that up, what are we fighting for? The security to put our asses in airplane seats? I don't want to diminish the importance of security to our way of life, which I dearly love, but another part of our way of life is freedom of speech. I don't think we should equate negative speech with irresponsible speech with treason.
