Thanks for your appreciation. I agree with you that our enemies -- and they are very real enemies -- take sustenance and validation from those who would blame the US for the crimes committed against it.

But blaming the victim seems to be a favored sport of some people.

I've never seen the logic in it, myself. Have dealt with too many cases of victim blaming, particularly battered women whose husbands or boyfriends blamed them for getting beaten up ("if you had only . . ." "if you hadn't . . ." "you made me do it by . . ." "it's your fault that . . ."), to have much sympathy for that line of reasoning. But I guess it appeals to some.

JC,

How many do you speak for? and many thank you for it.

you are indeed defending your nation at a time when everything it stands for is in great peril.
Including the Bill of Rights.

I'm curious about the statement below as well:
he sees that so many Americans truly do not believe in their country and have no stomach for defending its ideals

Would you be so kind as to tell us how you have such intimate knowledge of Bin Laden's thought processes?
Are you suggesting that X does not believe in her country?
Are you neglecting the American ideal of free speech?

We know that the WTC terrorists made extensive use of th Internet for their secret communications. It is no stretch that our enemies currently monitor threads like this one, to get a reading of American public

It is possible but I don't think it likely that we are being monitored by Al-Qaida. Their numbers are not limitless, many of them probably don't have regular internet access, there are many thousands of internet forums, and they probably have other things on their minds right now (either dodging bombs or planning their next attack).
