"Here's the question again JF ...."

" ""You are either with us or you are with the terrorists.""

You don't get it, do you? It's not the question that is so irritating, it's the fact that you feel you have a right to ask it, ie to challenge a person's loyalty or patriotism. That is McCarthyism and I wasn't making fun when I said so. It's infuriating because here you are, some faceless guy with a fake name, acting as a one man truth squad.
You would have been right at home in the old USSR or East Germany as the block party chairman.. In real live I'd guess you would be the type of guy to hang at the back of the pack why others lead.

Now let me ask why you thought it was necessary to ask your question of me.....have you asked everyone on the thread to sign your loyalty pledge?? Let me tell you an anecdote.....a number of years ago I was attending a weeklong management seminar of just my organization. On the last day, to show our loyalty to the organization and to generate some rah-rah, we were asked to go, one by one, to the front of the room and sign a pledge dedicating ourselves to the objectives of the group. I was about 4th in line to do the signing and I refused....I refused and gave essentially the same reason I just gave you. The signing ceremony abruptly ended at that point.
My boss wasn't too pleased but I think most of the attendees were.
