we are becoming afraid to question the actions and authority of our government representatives. I haven't seen that. Quite the contrary. What I see is that just as some people exercise their right of free speech to question the actions (I don't know about authority -- who has been questioning the authority of the government in this instance?) of our government representatives, some others are exercising their right of free speech to question the appropriateness or wisdom of some things that are said. In today's world it may not be so much an issue of "loose lips sink ships" as it was in the 1940s. But there are still plenty of ways of giving aid and comfort to this new enemy. Just as person A is perfectly entitled to criticize person B, whether politician or citizen, for what he or she says or does, so person C is perfectly entitled to criticize person A for what he or she says or does. It sounds a wee bit as though you are demanding free speech for person A but not for person C. I trust you didn't really mean that, but it sounded a bit like it. As I have said here before, and will probably say again, it is not always right to exercise a right.

I agree with you, Jewel. IMO, one of things that makes our type of government, and hence our country, strong is an open vigilance on the part of our citizens about what the government is doing. The threat from within appears to be coming from citizens whose sense of fear is overwhelming their capacity for rational thought.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Some of 'us,' however, are not afraid to question 'our' leadership. In government -- and business -- I might add. To bring a 'tawdry,' -g- real life aspect into the discussion. As alleged 'investors,' which I assume is the reason that all SI members are here in the first place, the censorship of free speech hits home directly. Yes, I will 'comment' about 'propaganda.' From corporate leaders. As well as government leaders -g- (using the term loosely in that case). It's called 'PR' in the biz arena. 'Spin.' Dressed up slick words for propaganda. As investors, traders, savers, whatever -- for our futures -- those who don't question 'authority' are fools. Plain and simple. bia
