"As I have said here before, and will probably say again, it is not always right to exercise a right."

True 'nuf.

I am concerned about loose lips sinking ships. I am also concerned about the Public Relations of our government going beyond patriotism and bordering on agenda. For example: Everytime the Afghans report anything, the automatic comment from our sources is that the Afghan report of what ever is "Unconfirmed." Even though it makes rational sense. For example: If we bomb an industrial area in or near Kabul it makes sense that some collateral civilian death has occured in the process. Why do we need to have the discounting addendums automatically placed on the Afghan report of the damage? Everytime something is reported from our side it is taken as gospel. If you dare to ask a question about the report you are labeled "unpatriotic."

I listen to several local talk radio stations. Sometimes very irrational, yet militarily supportive, callers get lots of air time and are not challenged on their irrational comments. If someone calls in with a question (not criticism) they get short notice that they are out of line.

I am gung ho, as in "lets roll." But, I still want to be one of those who holds myself responsible at the end of the day for our course of action, as in "Of the people, by the people, and for the people."

I don't need or want to know everything about our military strategy, but I also don't want to be hanging my head over a modern Mai Lai, or Sand Creek massacre.
