I noted recently there were 10 areas marked for special protection - Parliament, Downing Street (but Tony has the Churchill bunker remember)and stopped at that point. Just can't understand why Britain has to be so front and center in this - not that action shouldn't be taken of an effective kind - but you'd think we were back in the time of the Normandy landings. I called a friend who lives in Devon (forgive me if I've mentioned this before) as I wanted his perspective, remembering how much he'd been against the Falklands War and his response was along the lines of 'well, something had to be done - it doesn't affect us really' I don't know how general this attitude is - a west country perspective perhaps, but it certainly contrasts with the views expressed by my son and his friends in London and Europe.
