hey - chill - dont take it personal...

as for housing in California

its just another example of how price doesnt matter

i wanted to buy a house in my neighborhood when i was living in San Jose. was eyeing a fixer for 135k

well - in my mind at the time i figured the entire market was out of wack and 135k was just too much to pay. market was a bit hot at the time. you figure maybe it will cool. the next year the house was a 250k house. today its a 500k house.

go figure

my point is price is relative so dont preach FAIR VALUATION.

warren buffet insists that it is impossible to determine what FAIR VALUATION is for a tech stock - thats why he avoids them.

stay on the right side - whichever side that is

about those million dollar homes that are only worth a 100k ..

well - in my home town of San Anselmo in Marin County, the median home price is 485k and fixer-upper on the street i grew up on will cost you about 500k and yes you can easily pay 1 million bucks [or more] for a house.

but - before you slam them consider the following:

Marin County is one of the / if not THE wealthiest county - per capita - in the nation.

When you're driving through San Anselmo look for houses with FOR SALE signs [lol] and when you have a hard time finding any ask the people why. might it be because they still have the same old little police station they did 50 [maybe 57] years ago where the chief of police still knows the towns people by name?

OK ---- so you say it only cost X dollars to build a house...well... Marin has a slow-growth policy so look around and see and if you can find a NEW HOUSE to buy --- good luck. [ internet census shows that there are 9 houses for sale...lol... census.abag.ca.gov]

sorry but the little house listed here is already sold :(

in case you dont know where Marin County is -- the Golden Gate bridge connects San Fransico to Marin. San Anslemo is the hub city of Marin County -- the little town where George Lucas set up show when he shunned Hollywood.

the fact is Marin County is one of the most desirable places to live in this country. if you think San Anslemo is expensive - check out Tiburon..lol

FWIW - you really dont sound like you know what you're talking about -- where do you live - TEXAS OR MISSISIPI?
