Jim, try the service and you will not think twice about the monthly fees. I bought a new Tivo for my Directv system just over a month ago on ebay for $60 (after $100 rebate), paid the annual $99 fee and have to tell you I would pay twice that amount if I had to just to keep the service. There is no going back once you've had a taste! Now, what I really want to see is a Tivo model that allows you to swap out the HD as easily as you can VHS tapes in your VCR...
