I get the feeling that everybody is waiting for news from the military. If we take major towns in Afghanistan or terrorist leaders are killed the market goes up (because consumer comfort improves drastically). Otherwise, we meander around in purgatory.

Zeev, some stocks are breaking badly already.
No way in Hell MU is going to hit 30 or even 28 if the top is another 100 Naz points or so.

I have noticed they drew a line in the sand on JNPR, EMLX, and BRCD roughly near 20. When those go, we will really go.

On a FA basis, those are terrible. JNPR's earnings were terrible and QLGC EMLX customers of EMC and IBM suggest there is nothing but total air here.

Oddly enough however, I think it will take a decline to about 1200 in order for the botom not to be in on this set.
I do not rule out such a decline. If we break the low, I bet we drop another 200 points.

BRCM is a different story.
I fully expect it to set a new 52 week low.

it prepares the market well to the scenario of a high not too far out

We had a drop on NDX of 6.4% WED this week while comp only fell 4.6%, so a fairly big short hedge was made this week on NDX. In combination with a surprising return to positive money inflows to MFs this week of 10/17 of $5B, expect some meaningful upside pop when this hedge is taken off.
