Boycotting mid-east oil is the goal, not oil overall (that will require much more time)... It's about replacing ME oil with production from more stable and less developed regions, which now appears to be Russia and the 'Stans.

There's plenty of oil out there. The 'Stans are rumoured to have deposits rivaling Saudi Arabia, but they've needed pipelines and political stability to exploit it.

Until alternate supplies are in production, any boycott is meaningless unless demand is reduced as well. Are you and the others signing the petition committing to reducing your consumption of oil by the same percentage of oil provided by the Middle East?
