Thomas: Looking broadly, there are several areas between which linkages can be improved. The overall economy (and now a terror factor), the stock market itself, the industry and/or technology within which a gorilla or king functions (with concentric layers probably), and then the company itself in relation to its competitors.

This requires a good knowledge of each "area" and then attempting to move in a meaningful way from a change in one to a result in another - for example a weakening (or strengthening) in the economy to its impact on the stock market.

In the past I have concentrated on the lowest set of areas and links, the technology and leaders within.

All of this is a daunting task.

I would suggest that any attempt to move from the changes in the economy to effects on individual companies misses much of the meat which would be gained by considering the intermediate areas.

Fortunately the GG is helpful at the individual company level.

Again, while it will be useful if links between the higher and lower areas can be discovered and quantified. I for one will not hold my breath for that. I would suggest that just understanding each area and gaining as much substantive knowledge of each as is relevant further down the chain is difficult in itself.

Wish the quantifiers luck.

Best.
