The news did not report "Pink Slips", those were your words. The cnet article reported they were "redeployed". For someone who claims to have contacts inside intel oregon, you certainly don't seem to know the difference.... Or maybe it's just that you don't want to know....

I'd say the latter. Any time AMD starts to suffer at the hands of Intel, the AMD supporters start suffering from paradigm paralysis. In their minds Intel is a "evil entity" completely incapable of 1) treating it's employees well and 2) recovering from any missteps and catching up to their "heroic and scrappy" smaller competitor.

In this case we have both happening. Intel is winning back market share from AMD. The AMD supporters refuse to believe it and accuse Intel of everything from “cooking the numbers” to “stuffing the channel.” They are desperately looking for any faint hope or glimmer that “all is not as it appears” at Intel, and will magnify even the smallest negative to be indicative of the “true hurting” AMD has put on Intel.

In short, a lot of people already have their mind made up about what is and what is not happening at Intel. They see the “scrappy competitor” taking market share left and right. They see the new incarnation of David bringing down the evil Goliath. Any facts that get in the way of that world-view are ignored in favor “analysis” that shows the opposite.

Yes the news did report Pink Slips, I watched it on TV.

Maybe the reporter was incorrect for using the term.

But the article says "About 250 people will lose their jobs over the next few months, the company said.
"
