Sure, I don't dispute that the US is not as bad as some places. But I won't accept that it's as clean as many US-ians would have one believe. If anyone lets their industries go bust, it's here in the UK. We don't have
any car manufacturers, or much manufacturing left at all now! We hardly help our farmers either; look what the French do over the Channel; their farmers and industries get whatever they ask for, and the EU turns a blind eye every time after a token amount of fuss.

However, $15 billion is more than just a helping hand for your airlines don't you think? BA is going to have to scrounge big time to even hope to get 500 million from anyone over here. If you're honest I think you'd agree,
by a factor of 3 or so (and on the subject of airlines, IMO
the Americans' idea of "open skies" is somewhat one-sided).

Sep 11th has given the Swiss and Belgians an excuse to keep their dead airlines afloat. Airlines seem to inspire an excessive amount of nationalism IMO. "National flag carrier" and all that BS.

Neil.
