combjelly, I have heard there are a number of laptops sold to SD shops with motherboards that use the Duron. They are sold as SKD kits from the Orient, and thus they bypass onerous Euro import duties on fully assembled laptops since they are parts to build computers in europe? I wonder if this is the market they are aimed at?

These laptops come with the same case and a diversity of names as each SD shop or chain applies their own name to it.

Bill

Comb- Not really. Distributor pricing is fairly high,
If Avnet picked up 0.5 million CPU's, I'm sure they got a good deal. How low did they go?

News of this deal bummed me out. I was actually kind of pleased when I listened to the conference call, mainly because of Hector. First, he didn't mumble or anything, which was a good sign. Second, he seemed to be truly enthusiastic about AMD mfg. I don't think Hector is a BS artist, I believe his enthusiasm is genuine. Any, hey, it was fun to hear Jerry crow about how they were going to kick arse.
