Rude Dog, the fantastic advances that you've listed merely demonstrate that Microsoft has taken its jolly time in catching up to Apple in the desktop publishing world. Apple never did inflict the likes of Windows print drivers on its customers. Unlike Windows users, who had to wait for Windows 95 to save them from print driver incompatibilities, Mac users have enjoyed WYSIWYG word processing for 17 years now.

Now, Mac users can easily create a PDF file from any application that supports printing without having to install or configure any third-party "virtual print drivers." Try doing that on Windows XP!

By the way, showing the limitations of a twenty-year-old system hardly contradicts Charles's assertion that word processing has not changed much "in the last decade."
