Timetobuy,

One would think that investors knew that sebl was going to come in lower if they were paying attention to the ceo's comments of doom and gloom.

Using that logic, investors would have "known" that Q2 would come in below expectations, but Q2 came in on target. The following are quotes and paraphrases from Tom Siebel in the Q1 conference call that certainly had more than enough gloom and doom in it:

"[We're operating in an] exceptionally soft market. Unbelievably soft. I believe that what we're looking at is a global economic recession."

"It's difficult to overexpose how exceptionally soft this market is." (Paraphrasing now:) Today you can't forecast a transaction even if the CEO tells me that it's a done deal, all the while shaking my hand and looking me straight in the eye. We know the deal will be consummated, but we don't know whether it will be in Q2, Q3 or Q4.

(Paraphrased): The downturn in the U. S. economy has got to be reflected in the European and Asian economies in the next couple of quarters.

Back to my comments: Management's expectation of future business was so gloomy that it was announced in the Q1 conference call that all bonuses has been eliminated and executive salaries were slashed 20%.
