Apollo has raised a very interesting subject. He writes: The thread successfully identified Qualcomm and Siebel before the General Market did. We've identified a number of gorilla candidates, and are watching them very closely. Macroeconomic collapse has suspended any chance for young gorillas to emerge at this particular point in time. I happen to agree with him, but I am concerned at the lack of applied, as opposed to general theoretical, discussion here over recent months. It is not clear that with the current level of attention we will, in fact, be able to spot the next young gorillas in real time. I can imagine three possible reasons for the decline in such posts: 1. Many members of the G&K community have been so hurt by the downdraft that they are either busted or disillusioned with cutting-edge tech investing or both. 2. The tone of the thread has been adversely affected by attacks and recriminations, along with repetitive general theoretical discussions, and it's just no longer as fun a place to hang out as it was. 3. Things are just in hibernation at the moment, here as in the economy, and will liven up once the turnaround starts. Me, I think it's a mixture of 1 & 3, but I know some people who would emphasize 2; curious what folks think about whether there is, in fact, a problem and what, if anything, we should do about it. tekboy/Ares@enquiringmindswanttoknow.com
