Convenience galore. My mother-in-law has a habit of calling during my favorite shows. Used to be a hassle, now I just hit pause, and pick up where I left off after hanging up. I work from home, so pausing is also huge benefit during the day as well; clients no longer have to hear CNBC in the background. ;)

My wife works out of state during the week, so now she can catch her favorite programs on the weekend.

I can record two programs at once, something my vcr never offered - I don't know if this is a dish only feature or not.

Time savings. My vcr had a commercial skip feature which I loved. Tivo doesn't have it, but it literally takes me about 3-5 seconds to FF through the commercials now. That is much faster than my VCR was. When you see the program is back on you hit play, and Tivo pops you back a few seconds based upon your fast forward speed which generally puts you right where you want to be.

And don't knock the digital recording feature, the quality is great and ever so handy during those inevitable arguments between friends watching a football game or a boxing match!

That said I don't own the stock; I simply love the product/service.
