You completely missed the point AGAIN!

I see no reason to buy now and have said I would buy again in 2-3 years. What makes you think I have a 33 mhz system?

GET REAL!!! I probably have owned well over 15 systems. This is the first time I HAVEN'T been upgrading.

You still thinking of the 99 things I need a new system for?

Unless you get new software or your hardware gets broken, the PC will be as good as it is today. The main reason to get new software will be security.

Instead of getting new MS Software or a new PC, you can install the latest version of Linux and have a secure, up-to-date PC. Much cheaper. And if you buy a 5GHz PC, you can have two 5GHz workplaces if you install Linux on both...

Lars.

At the start of 1999, I had a bet with a few friends of mine -- that MSFT will underperform the S&P 500 over the next 10 years. So far, MSFT has been down about 15% since then (adjusted for all splits) and SPY is down about 9%.

Even if MSFT dominates the business, I think it will continue to underperform the index. It is mainly because of high valuations. Current high valuations almost always imply poor long-term returns.

Is this a tradable stock? Of course it is. But will this be a good long-term investment (meaning that it will beat the indexes)? Probably not.
