2 AMZN DOWNGRADES ALREADY ON THE WIRES...

08:20 ET Amazon.com (AMZN) 9.55: -- Update -- Merrill Lynch analyst Henry Blodget downgrades to near-term NEUTRAL from Accumulate; notes that revenue growth continues to decelerate with core US sales down 9% year/year despite price discounting; mix shift toward used from new products is exacerbating slowdown; with limited visibility and prospect for declining core business, stock appears expensive.

08:11 ET Amazon.com (AMZN) 9.55: SG Cowen downgrades to NEUTRAL from Buy; says that the real take-away from the report was that the BMV (books/music/video) business fell 12% year/year, the first ever decline in this business, and margins in BMV fell to 7% from 10%; notes that BMV is 55% of revenues. Says that if holiday sales are weak, Q4 profit goal will be in jeopardy.
