Mitch---Good Hillary story. She was booed by the cops and firemen at the rock concert saturday nite. BTW, it was a great concert. Hillary didnt really deserve to get booed imo. I am no fan but she's been out there and trying real hard. But the cops and firefighters have long political memories regarding the clintons. Anyway, one of Hillarys aides after the concert said something like "what do you expects from cops and firemen? They spend all day listening to right wing radio." Those folks went into burning buildings and gave their lives to save the Hillarys of their world and their young politicially correct aides. I am sure the aide in question wouldnt have minded being rescued by a fireman who in his offtime listens to Rush Limbaugh. mike PS I suggested using nukes today if we could connect the dots to bin laden or Hussein and they could be used effectively to eliminate a threat--eg blowing up Mt. bin laden. No one has addressed this on this thread. I put it out there because i suspect this will become a real debate shortly. If the old soviet union had done this to us, we would have used what we had to in order to maintain deterrence.

Mitch -- I truly wish you are correct that we can be decent and effective. What I am saying is that, personally, if neccesary to protect our innocent people, I would compromise decency for effectiveness. I hope it doesn't come to that. In addition, and more in the investment mode. New international political alliances are forming that have investment potential. We are getting in bed with Russia and the cold war mentality will be old history. At the same time, we are trying to be less dependent upon Arab resources. Russia has enormous oil reserves, and one investment I've been in has been LUKoil, which has more proven oil reserves than any private company in then world. It sells for $42 per ADR, with earnings of abt $18 per ADR share. The risks have been Russian instabillity, accounting, and corruption. As Russia get closer to the West, I think these risks will diminish. Remember, I hold some and am biased. Getty Oil is owned by LUKoil, so they are represented in the USA. fred
