It's no wonder there is a big fight at 1750....the 1997 high was 1747, and the 1998 summer correction closing weekly low was 1745.

A bullish guy might argue that we are at a critical crossroads: if we get above 1750 and it then becomes support, something that would play out over the next few months, it is an indication that "the market" has decided that only the pricing beyond Oct 1998 was "The Bubble." This could be critical in the TA and FA communities coming to a consensus whether we have been in a cyclical bear or secular bear market. In other words, if we get above the long term trend lines that served as support prior to 1998 and they start serving as support again, then we can start using valuation models and trend channels that worked during the early 1990's again.

I see this as an improving possibilty, but it will take many months and several counter trend reactions(assuming the trend is up), to come to a conclusion.
