I have no problem with Intel including gaming console chips in their market share if other game console chips (PS2, Nintendo) are also included

They're not x86.

I don't think Intel makes much on those chips

I'll ask the same question again, other than AMDroid claims, what data do you have to back this up?

BTW, did Intel say P-3s will no longer be available after 12/7? One of my local distributors said Intel told them that...

P3s will be manufactured by Intel for many years to come. They won't be taking any more desktop design orders but P3 is designed into many embedded applications and Intel will supply them for probably 5-7 years at a minimum. And then there's XBox....

Jim, Re: <I realize none of this matters until Intel starts to crow about market share numbers...then it becomes a bit more ridiculous...>

I don't think it's going to happen that way. Listening to the INTC Q3-CC it seemed pretty clear that the current P-III was going to be called a Celeron(Thus not a P-III) CPU when it went into a computer and an 'embedded unit' when it went into a game console.

Re: <did Intel say P-3s will no longer be available after 12/7? One of my local distributors said Intel told them that...>

During the Q&A when that topic was raised, the answer was that P-III would be available as 'embedded units' for many years.
