Yes, they were my words, not yours. I wasn't intending to suggest anything else.

Let's not, while we're at it, confuse illegal aliens with legal immigrants. There used to be a distinction, as I recall. Our values don't have to include being almost totally derelict about handling illegals. And we have been, and we are still, today.

Deporting potential terrorist suspects will do almost no good at all. The article in question that started this discussion gave a perfect example of that. They are simply released by their governments who could well be winkingly sponsoring them in the first place and then they're free to return here, for all we know. And we certainly can't keep them out and prevent the whole process from just happening over and over again. We don't have the will or conviction or determination to do that.

These four men in question...you believe we should simply deport them because they refuse to tell us why they were carrying box-knives and what they intended to do with them, why the one of them didn't feel it was necessary to learn how to land a plane in flight school, etc.? We should arrange to torture them "off-site"? And then it's okay??? Then our values are left unsullied?

I'm sorry, I think we are just kidding ourselves and living in a fantasy. And we refuse to wake up.
