Because that's what is. You can hard wire them if you want, I can still shut it down with a 12 pound sledge hammer. It is an electrical system and as such is subject to failure. I could shut down the master electrical system and still have engine power but no systems on. All I have to say to ATC is that electrical is out I'm declaring an emergency. No methed of providing electricity to a component is 100 % gaurenteed. If I shut down the master electrical I would have my handy-dandy hand held GPS system. Designers would fight bypassing a circuit breaker system as this could cause a fire, a scary situation in flight. Jim
