The numbers weren't expected to be very good, and nobody was disappointed! The BtB numbers being posted the last few months are quite similar to those posted in the summer and fall months of 1998. Hopefully, the situation is going to improve shortly within the next few months.

The following comment came out this morning. It should help to put a "floor" under the semi-equips from this point forward.

<07:44 ET Semi Equip Book/Bill : Merrill Lynch notes that despite increase in book/bill ratio to 0.65 in Sep from 0.63 in Aug, bookings took another leg down to their lowest point of the cycle, most likely reflecting order push-outs after Sep 11; Merrill believes orders have hit their trough, in which case semi equipment stocks might retest recent lows, but not move much below those levels.>
